Like a Good Neighbor

Glenda Petkus - Southlake’s Insurance Specialist

No one likes a call in the middle of the night, but for State Farm Agent Glenda Petkus, it is all part of a job she has loved for over 40 years. “Just like a worried parent, I’m always ready to help my clients anytime day or night,” says Glenda. Unfortunately, late night calls do happen, and when they do the person on the other end is all too often faced with an immediate need for help. It is at that time they are glad to be working with Glenda Petkus, an experienced, hard working insurance professional.

After starting Southlake’s first State Farm agency over 24 years ago, Glenda has built a wealth of experience in every facet of the industry from personal property and automobile coverage to life and health insurance. And as a Southlake resident and mother of two grown daughters Glenda knows exactly what her neighbors need when insuring what matters most.

Like a good neighbor, Southlake State Farm Agent Glenda Petkus has been there, as a perennial Chairman’s Circle award-winning insurance agent and friend to those in need. When emergencies happen, many clients have unfortunately been put out of their homes due to fire, floods or other catastrophes. Backed by State Farm, Glenda is there with the necessary support to help clients with their basic needs of food, clothing and shelter as they manage the road to recovery. “If needed, and your home is uninhabitable, we are there to write a check in our office for up to $5,000 to cover necessary expenses including food, shelter and clothing,” explains Glenda, “at this time we also help by recommending only the best businesses and services in the area from our 24 years of experience in Southlake.”

Glenda often calls on her many years of claims experience prior to opening her Agency where she had the opportunity to help many State Farm insureds successfully deal with the chaotic weather indicative of Wichita Falls. So, she knows firsthand how important it is to have someone there to hold your hand in such trying times.

Glenda and her staff are committed to conducting regularly scheduled annual reviews of your insurance coverage. “We call every client once per year to give them the opportunity to sit with a licensed professional to review their coverages, uncover and suggest discounts they aren’t getting, and see if there are any gaps in coverage that need to be prioritized,” says Glenda. With the deregulation of the Homeowners Insurance policy by the Texas Department of Insurance Texas in 2003, consumers need to be VERY aware of the Homeowners policy they are purchasing. We’ve seen quite a few companies cut coverages to the client’s surprise! Customers also find the staff’s Life Needs Analysis to be very beneficial. During these reviews Glenda or one of her highly qualified representatives will sit down with you to bring important life changing milestones into perspective. “Maybe your child has become a new driver and you want to add them to your policy or they have gone off to college,” says Glenda, “or perhaps a new job brings the need for a benefits review or a parent or spouse needs long-term care. “After going through my own personal experiences with my Father and his need for Long Term Care Insurance,” she explains, “it has become a passion to create awareness and cover the needs of my clients and their families.”

Any of these special family moments can change coverage needs and Glenda Petkus’ State Farm Agency appreciates the opportunity to work with you through all of life’s many milestones. With thousands of satisfied customers built from over two decades of positive referrals Glenda and her staff have been helping their neighbors in the Southlake community since 1988.

Petkus greatly enjoys taking the opportunity to reach out to clients with a celebratory call on their birthday. “Calling on my client’s birthdays is not only the perfect time to let them know how much I appreciate them,” says Glenda, “but it’s also a perfect time to let them know they can reach me 24 hours a day at glenda@glendapetkus.com.”

As time moves on families grow and change, as do many businesses. As a successful self-employed business owner and Southlake Chamber of Commerce member herself, Glenda is also a wealth of information when it comes to Business and Liability coverage. She says, “There are numerous exposures that either experienced or new business owners may not be aware of – liability if someone trips or has a fall on your premises, dishonesty coverage if an employee is handling cash, and the basic coverage for contents such as computers, desks, and other office equipment.”

Her office has access to State Farm Commercial Underwriters that come out and assess the exposures with them and use their expertise in calculating the risk. They also take care of business partners, spouses, and loved ones with their exclusive Key Man Insurance.

When it comes to personal and business insurance Glenda’s experienced staff extends the entire company’s services. It all starts the moment you call or enter the office, Receptionist and Marketing professional Kay Dresser brings 28 years worth of experience to the office and can quickly assess your needs and get you to the right person for the job. Roxanne Haug has specialized in Life and Health Financial Services and she brings 12 years experience while Danelle McCullum and Lorinda Hanebuth respectively help new and existing clients with their Automobile and Home insurance needs. With a combined total of 96 years in the insurance industry, Glenda and her staff have experienced many different scenarios and can work with the numerous State Farm departments to answer any question. “As of this April, we are very excited to be adding Elizabeth Nagel to our team,” says Glenda, “She is coming to us with 4 years experience from another Southlake State Farm agency.

Glenda feels just as strongly about giving back to her community. Her support of Dragon Football radio along with State Farm’s major sponsorship of High School Football afforded her the, “Fantastic opportunity,” to be on the field to present each of the Dragons’ with a medal commemorating their 2011 5A State Championship. As a long-time supporter of the many Southlake elementary school spring and fall carnivals and the annual Chamber Golf Tournament Glenda Petkus goes out of her way to give back to the community.

For Glenda, it is so important that neighbors find the coverage they need, she firmly states, “Through State Farm we offer a full range of coverage but if for any reason we can’t meet your specific needs, I’d be honored to refer you to anyone from our list of reputable firms in the area.”

What Customers are Saying:

“I have been a client of Glenda Petkus’ State Farm for 19 years. They have always been available to answer all the questions I had on my insurance with expert knowledge and advice. I highly recommend them for any and all your insurance needs.” – Paula P.

“I highly recommend the Glenda Petkus Agency. I've been a State Farm customer for over 12 years, and I can honestly say that Glenda's office is top notch. Not often will you find an agent as successful as Glenda call you as a client just to see how you're doing. When I walk into her offices, I know that I'll be taken care of. It's also obvious in dealing with her employees that she leads her staff well. You can't go wrong with Glenda Petkus State Farm.” Gary H.

“Glenda Petkus has been my SF insurance agent since moving back to Texas in 1997. Whether helping me with my business or personal lines coverage, Glenda has offered options that fit my needs and budget. I look forward to our continuing relationship.” – Randy S.
