SASO joins Patriot Guard for Walk of Gratitude

Submitted by Laura Hill

Southlake's Scholars and Athletes Serving Others joined the Patriot Guard  and led the Walk of Gratitude on Sunday, December 2, to honor 1,700 children who have lost a parent in service to our country since 9/11.    The Walk of Gratitude is part of the Snowball Express sponsored by American Airlines.  The children were honored with a trip to six flags, a rodeo in Fort Worth, concert by the Lt. Dan Band at Billy Bob’s Over Texas, and a Cirque du Soleil  show.   SASO boys and their mothers welcomed the children as they arrived in Fort Worth with dozens of posters and flags.    The Southlake boys also attended the evening's  festivities with the children.  It was a great way to show these children, who have lost a parent in service, that their peers appreciate what their parents gave for our freedoms.
