The entire field of the Cotton Bowl at Fair Park transforms into a leash-free puppy zone at this annual event. Let your pooch school other dogs on the pet-only agility course, while you and yours relax and enjoy the concessions, live music and exhibits. Take advantage of the services offered by veterinarians and dog experts at this free event while your pup romps and runs his way through this historic football field. Sunday, April 7, 1 to 4 p.m.
Nature Hills Arbor Preserve
Head to Plano, home to this respite from the rigors of city living. A beautiful showcase of nature’s wonders, Arbor Hills promises a field trip as entertaining as it is educational. Cool off from a long hike along the trails with a dip in the preserve’s creek and finish your day with snacks at one of many picnic areas. Youngsters will especially enjoy the large play area. Just be sure to keep your pet on a leash at all times!
Open to the two-legged only, this annual charity gala raises funds for North Texas oldest no-kill animal shelter, Operation Kindness. This year’s event takes place at Sambuca in Uptown Dallas. For $200, guests will enjoy an open bar and a gourmet four-course meal and can participate in big-ticket giveaways and a live auction. Dine and dance the night away in honor of the best friend who always greets you at the door. Tails up! Sunday, April 21, 7 to 10 p.m.
Strutt your Mutt
Let your four-legged friend bask in the glow of admirers at this event benefiting Dallas SPCA. Participants can take part in the 3K funwalk or the timed 5K race. Kids can bounce along to Radio Disney in the Puppy Pals Friend Zone at this family-oriented event. Shop your way through the Bow-Wow Bazaar all-the-while helping to raise $200,000 for SPCA Texas’ dog-saving shelter! Saturday, April 27, 7 a.m. to 12 p.m.
Fort Woof Dog Park
It doesn’t get much better than this five-acre dog park right in your own bark-yard. Fort Woof offers ample water stations, a dog agility course, separate small and large dog areas and plenty of seating for humans. Boasting friendly owners and friendly pups, this park offers a clean and welcoming experience.
