Southlake residents will elect new members to the CISD Trustee Board on May 11 and with budget concerns at the forefront of the election, many voters are curious how to decipher campaign rhetoric and vote for the candidate best suited to the task. With that in mind, we sent a set of four questions to candidates; Place 6 Matt Kormann, Place 6 Sam Torolopoulos, Place 7 Chris Archer and Place 7 Jim Palazzo in an attempt to get to know them. In this two part series, each candidate shares his views on issues facing Carroll ISD.
1. Each candidate in this year’s campaign has promised fiscal restraint to taxpayers. What specific actions or proposals do you recommend to balance the budget and maintain fiscal responsibility?
2. Protect the Tradition is at the very heart of this school district. What does the phrase mean to you and exactly how do you intend to fulfill that commitment if elected?
3. Carroll has an excellent and established reputation of providing a quality education for its students. If elected, what are the details of your plans to maintain the quality of education amidst budget cuts?
4. If elected, what personal skills and experiences do you plan to bring to the position?
To see part one responses visit Place 6 Kormann, Place 6 Torolopoulos, Place 7 Archer and Place 7 Palazzo. Part two responses can be seen at Kormann, part two, Torolopoulos, part two, Archer, part two, and Palazzo, part two.
Early voting begins April 29 – May 7 at Southlake Town Hall.
