Greens Without Envy

North Texas is home to a slew of outstanding golf courses including Old American in The Colony.

Great Courses Close to Home

From the hallowed grounds of Colonial Country Club to the new and notable Old American, and from time-honored legends such as Byron Nelson and Ben Hogan to the fresher faces of Hunter Mahan, Ryan Palmer and Justin Leonard — North Texas claims a longstanding yet contemporary connection to the game of golf. Blame it on the year-round playing season, a bustling economy or the lack of state income taxes; we are not shy of great local courses to play on or area golfers to cheer for. We’ve taken a look into some of the area’s best courses. The good news is we didn’t have to travel very far to find some of the best golf clubs and clubhouses worthy of an afternoon in the sun.

Along our journey, we found the literal summit of local golf actually resides in Keller (Sky Creek Ranch), while we are right between two of the PGA Tour’s toughest courses (Colonial C.C. and the TPC Four Seasons Las Colinas). From exclusivity (Vaquero) to value (Trophy Club C.C.), a shining star (Cowboys Golf Club) and everything in between, others should be envious of the greens we call home.
