Designed by award-winning architect Tripp Davis and North Texas’ PGA Tour star Justin Leonard, Old American opened with much fanfare and a Best New Golf Course recognition by Golfweek in 2010. Expertly fashioned along the shores of Lake Lewisville, this course may be relatively new, but thanks to telltale bunkers, organic greens and strict emphasis on shot making, it brings golf’s Golden Age closer to home. Perhaps it’s the reason why so many PGA Tour players, including Rod Pampling, K.J. Choi, Y.E. Yang, Paul Stankowski and course record holder Nathan Green, have made a visit. Of his four-under round of 67, Green had this to say: “Old American is a tough, but fair test of golf.”
