Southlake's own Travelocity Roaming Gnome is hitting the road to prepare for March Madness and to jump into the middle of the college basketball season.

Travelocity is giving the Roaming Gnome his mission to "Go and Smell the Roses." The Roaming Gnome will embark on a multi-week trek across the country to experience college basketball's most historical rivalries while also gaining knowledge on shooting hoops.

"The Roaming Gnome and college basketball fans share an obvious passion for travel," says Bradley Wilson, chief marketing officer, Travelocity North America.  "Our work with ESPN is about showing fans how Travelocity can empower them to 'Go and Smell the Roses' to see their team in action."

With help from local fans and the host of ESPN's College GameDay, the Roaming Gnome will try to uncover the best of pre-game good, fud and college traditions throughout campuses across the country.

The Roaming Gnome began his journey in Philadelphia where crosstown rivals Temple University and La Salle University went head to head.

This weekend, be on the lookout for the Roaming Gnome in Syracuse, NY as the hometown takes on Duke University's Blue Devils.

Be sure to help out the Roaming Gnome by offering local recommendations while he's in town. Be sure to reach him via Twitter @RoamingGnome and Instagram @RoamingGnome.

The Roaming Gnome will share his highlights of the college basketball towns during his road trip beginning Feb. 1 through March 8.

Travelocity is based in Southlake and owned by parent company Sabre. Sabre is one of the leading global technology companies that provide more than a billion people innovate ways to plan, book and get to their destination in a cheap and timely manner.
