It has been yet another great season for the SouthlakebrCarroll Varsity wrestling team. ThebrDragons have once again regained prominence in the state of Texas, as thebrtradition surrounding a dominant Southlake wrestling program has yet again sweptbrDragon country. After winning thebrdistrict championship for the third year in a row, one particular Dragon tookbrit to the next step in the 2014 season.
Following in thebrfootsteps of Carroll wrestling alumni Stephen McPeek and Robert Prigmore,brsenior Michael Basler finished off an incredible career for the Southlakebrprogram, winning the 5A wrestling state title at 160 lbs. As the lone state tournament qualifier forbrthe Dragons, Basler represented the green and white well defeating a number ofbropponents in the state tournament on his way to knocking off Arlington Bowie's AbbasbrMounshed by way of pin 2:36 seconds into the match.
With much to be proud of in 2014, Southlake Carroll will bebrlooking to see who answers the call as the next great Southlake wrestler.
