Homebuilders Regain Strength Within the Market
Dallas-based D.R. Horton and PulteGroup are the two biggest homebuilders in the nation. Both saw a tight supply of homes within the market, leading to price increases.
Consequently, this means that housing is regaining strength ahead of the upcoming season.
As the amount of existing homes for resale continues to dwindle as well as ready-to-build land, homebuilders are hiking up their prices.
D.R. Horton shares rose as much as 9 percent, while PulteGroup’s stock gained as much as 4% after both companies reported a 10 percent increase in average selling price.
D.R. Horton primarily targets first-time homebuyers making the company most sensitive to interest rates. Unit prices range between $100,000 and $1 million.
As the fixed 30-year mortgage rates continue to decline, this indicates that demand is expected to pick up throughout the year.
The run up in prices along with the unusually cold winter and higher rates pushed sales of new U.S. single-family homes during the first few months of the year to their lowest levels in eight months.
D.R. Horton’s orders rose 9 percent in the quarter compared with a year earlier and 57 percent form the previous quarter. Revenue from home sales – excluding land sales – rose 22.7 percent to $1.68 billion. Additionally, net income rose to $131 million from $111 million a year earlier.
Grubbs Infiniti Breaks Ground on Biggest Infiniti Dealership
The Grubbs Family is making history by building the world’s largest Infiniti dealership in Grapevine, which is expected to open in early 2015.
From the beginning, the Grubbs knew that the Grapevine area would be an ideal location for the new Flagship Infiniti dealership.
“I looked at where the majority of my customers live and knew Grapevine would be the perfect home for our new store,” says George Grubbs III, the Infiniti dealership’s co- owner and executive manager. “This new location marks a whole new era for the Grubbs family and for our customers. We are absolutely rolling out the red carpet for them and want them to feel like they’re experiencing something completely unique.”
The new dealership will be 75,000 square feet on part of 16 acres of land at State Highway 114 and Texas Trail.
The new Grubbs Infiniti will feature an innovative design with the main facility located in the middle of the property, with the cars surrounding it on all sides.
Luxury car buyers have increasing demands and Grubbs says he’ll respond by reflecting on the lessons he learned from watching his dad and granddad work. To that end, Grubbs will continue to offer the innovative “Valet Plus” option and deliver a vehicle to a customer’s home or office for a free 24-hour test drive. If there’s a trade-in, Grubbs Infiniti will drive it back for an appraisal and come back the next day with figures on both cars.
