Southlake sisters Maria and Julia Myers received the Southlake Chamber of Commerce’s 2014 Youth of the Year Award for their charitable efforts. Together the two manage their own nonprofit, Pretty Purposeful. This past year the teens were focused on raising awareness and funds for the treatment of obstetric fistula, a medical condition associated with prolonged or failed childbirth and found predominately in poor countries.  With the support of community donations and the sales from their own signature collection of t-shirts and accessories Pretty Purposeful was able to raise $25,000 to help fund repair surgeries for 25 women in the West African Republic of Sierra Leone.
