Located in Bicentennial Park, the site plan for the proposed community recreation center (CRC) in Southlake was approved at the City Council Meeting on June 3. Upon completion, the CRC will be the city’s largest public facility at 105,000 square feet, as well as the most expensive with the current planned budget at $46.5 million. However, there will be no increase in taxes to construct or operate the facility. The city plans to break ground in early September, and completion is estimated for late 2015.Although the proposed $14 million has been set aside for the project since 2009, funding was not approved for phase1 by Southlake City Council until August 2013.
