REI Announces Grand Opening in Southlake

Nov 03, 2014 01:25PM ● Published by Kevin

REI will celebrate the grand opening of its Southlake store at Park Village with co-op members and the local community from Friday, Nov. 14 to Sunday, Nov. 16. The store will have a soft opening on Friday, Nov. 7.

The store's address is 1011 E. Southlake Blvd.

A number of activities, events and giveaways are scheduled throughout the weekend in honor of the store’s opening, including:

Shop Early, Get a Gift – The first 200 people (age 12 and older) who visit the store each day will receive a limited-edition CamelBak water bottle with an REI gift card inside ranging from $10 to $100. Doors open at 10 a.m. on Friday and Saturday, and 11 a.m. on Sunday.

Enjoy Free Food – Early birds can enjoy breakfast hosted by REI, Mountain House and Coleman throughout the weekend. Continental and hot breakfast service begins one hour before the store opens.

Win Great Products – REI members and customers can enter to win gear sweepstakes packages, including GoPro, camp kitchen, and picnic and festival products.

To help inspire and educate its members, REI offers a variety of in-store classes and presentations, and outdoor outings in the Dallas area throughout the year, including Bike Maintenance Basics and Outdoor Photography. Event and registration information is available at www.rei.com/southlake.

In each of its communities, the retailer partners with local nonprofits that work to preserve and enhance well-known outdoor spaces through activities such as event promotions and grants. Locally, REI granted $80,000 in 2014 to nonprofits helping to maintain outdoor places in the Dallas area. Example grantees include theBob Jones Nature Center, DORBA (Dallas Off-Road Bicycle Association) and Keep Grapevine Beautiful.

On Oct. 18, new REI Southlake employees also volunteered with Keep Grapevine Beautiful and DORBA to maintain Katie’s Woods Park.

REI Southlake offers the top brands of gear and clothing for camping, climbing, cycling, fitness, hiking and more. The store will also provide a full range of bike shop services to keep customers on the streets and trails year-round. Store hours will be 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Saturday, and 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Sundays.
