The national Wounded Warrior Amputee Softball Team represents some of our nation’s bravest and most determined heroes, soldiers and veterans. These extremely athletic men have sustained severe injuries resulting in amputation while serving in the military/war, and through extensive rehabilitation, they have become competitive athletes again.

The third annual Wounded Warrior Softball Tournament takes place Jan. 24, from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. at Bob Jones Park. Admission is $5 at the gate.

Together, participants comprise the national Wounded Warrior Amputee Softball Team, which travels the world playing abled-bodied teams in competitive, celebrity and exhibition softball games, bringing their special brand of softball, courage and inspiration.

Teams will include celebrities, former pro athletes, high school softball and baseball players, high school coaches and teachers, and travel softball and baseball teams.

The hospitality tent for players and family opens at 8 a.m. Team sign-in and warm-ups begin at 9. Pool games start at 10. Opening ceremonies are at noon on Field 1. Pool games resume at 12:30 p.m.

At 4, bracket games begin. The Wounded Warrior vs. Pro Player Exhibition starts at 6, and finally, the championship game begins at 7:30.
