Zero to 60: Driving Lincoln

Apr 03, 2015 09:38PM ● By Dia

After an Oscar-winning performance in Dallas Buyers Club, Texas native Mathew McConaughey’s star was at its peak. Lincoln executives placed their money alongside the Lincoln Lawyer, pinning the brand’s revival on McConaughey’s ability to help launch their upcoming luxury introductions. Lincoln and their new spokesman have a winner with the latest introduction of their premium crossover utility known as the MKC.

Thanks to the partnership, satirical re-makes by the likes of Saturday Night Live, and the movement to smaller luxury vehicles, Lincoln’s SUVs sales have skyrocketed by more than 30 percent this year alone. The recent surge has little brother taking over the Lincoln Navigator as the family’s top selling utility vehicle.

With the unique ground up creation of the MKC, the second of the brand’s four new luxury introductions by 2016, Lincoln continues to put a positive charge into its image. The car’s athletic physique includes a high beltline and broad shoulders that house a choice of two all-new EcoBoost. engines. A standard 2.0-liter front wheel drive or a 2.3-liter all wheel drive upgrade both offer superb performance. Enhanced fuel efficiency is a must have in today’s best sellers and the MKC is ahead of the game thanks to its Active Grille Shutters, a class exclusive design which helps achieve up to 29 miles per gallon on the highway. Delivered with 18-inch wheels, drivers can upgrade to Lincoln’s Intelligent All-Wheel Drive technology and larger wheels for customizable handling options and of course, a sportier look.

MKC’s designers also adopted a new interior style, which embraces drivers (Oscar-winners or otherwise) and passengers alike with a mix of pure craftsmanship and high technology. Recently introduced at a fashion forward series of events, Lincoln’s Black Label level of interior design brings rare, high-end materials in four stylish themes: Center Stage, Indulgence, Modern Heritage and Oasis. The Center Stage design includes hints of Alcantara (think durable, luxury ultrasuede) in Foxfire Red with stunning black Venetian leather. Plush leathers with French stitching, and available Bridge of Weir leather are accentuated by soft ambient lighting throughout the cabins of Lincoln’s Black Label experience. The available panoramic, all-glass Vista Roof only adds to the car’s sophistication.

Having a great looking car creates a need for a showcase moment. So Lincoln extended the signature Black Label series to include exclusive access to reservations at fine restaurants coast-to-coast.

Showmanship is everything, therefore the teamwork of McConaughey, Lincoln and their signature Black Label is quickly becoming one tough act to follow in the luxury automobile industry.
