Come gather information and register for your favorite Southlake programs at the 8th Annual Southlake Summer Kickoff. This free event includes Southlake Recreation program registration, Southlake Library Reading Club sign-up, inflatables, live entertainment and free concessions.

On Saturday, May 30, the kickoff begins at 10 a.m. at Rustin/Family Park in Southlake Town Square, and ends at 1 p.m.

The summer reading program, which will be showcased at the event, is for babies all the way up to teens and "is designed to keep kids from slipping down the dreaded summer slide by offering an exciting summer reading program filled with fun and incentives to keep them reading all summer long," according to an article by MySouthlakeNews. This year’s Summer Reading Program theme is “Every hero has a story.”

Other venues and activities on the pedestal include: The Bob Jones Nature Center & Preserve, Southlake Tennis Center and Pro ShopCity of Southlake - Senior Center and Community Services Recreation team.

"The morning will be filled with activities for the family including live musical entertainment by The Space Rockers, bounce houses, balloon artists, crafts, field games, police and fire vehicles, appearances by the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Wonder Woman and an amazing fire juggler! There will also be a limited amount of Rita’s Italian ice available at no cost!" the article says.
