Did the title catch your attention? It sure got ours. Leah Spina, a North Richland Hills resident who’s a former journalist and mom of three, wrote Stop and Smell Your Children: Laugh and Enjoy the Little Years to help mothers truly enjoy the journey of raising babies and young children.

The book launches October 6, but we have a sneak peek for you. Whether you’re a mom-to-be or you already have a brood of young ones, you’ll enjoy the fresh perspective Spina puts on parenting.

She uses humor and thoughtful takeaways to give busy moms a new outlook and help them see beauty in the chaos of this stage of life. Children are only small for a short while, and Spina encourages moms to enjoy each moment.

“I hope this book can help fellow overwhelmed moms,” Spina said in a press release. “We need to be encouraged, laugh and be inspired.”

She believes that changing your perspective as a parent can change everything for the better. Spina is committed to slowing down and savoring the time she has with her children, which inspired her to author her book, Stop and Smell Your Children

You can get your copy of her book on October 6. Also, watch for Spina to share her insight on parenting and motherhood as one of Southlake Style’s new guest bloggers. She’ll be blogging right here at, so stay tuned!
