Former Dragon Wins Gold for Team USA

Aug 07, 2015 09:47AM ● Published by Audrey Sellers

Connor Hendrickson, 2014 Carroll graduate and former Dragon runner, represented Team USA at the Pan American Junior Championships in Edmonton, Canada. Hendrickson won Gold in the 10,000 meters with a time of 30:46. He traded for the lead several times throughout the race but pulled away with 800 meters and then extended his lead with 250 meters to go.

Hendrickson’s final mile was under 4:20 and his last lap at 1:03. This was the single fastest time of all competitors throughout the 24-lap race. Hendrickson is entering his sophomore year at The University of Texas majoring in architectural engineering. He will compete again this fall for the Longhorn Cross Country team.

We’ve been keeping our eye on Hendrickson. Stay tuned for more updates, and click here to see our Q&A with him.
