Winning: It’s Something in Our Water

Aug 11, 2015 12:54PM ● Published by Tyler Hicks

Several members of the Lady Dragon Water Polo Team recently competed at the USA Water Polo National Junior Olympics, the largest water polo tournament for its age group in the country. The tournament ran from July 30 to August 2 in Orange County, California.

Erin Weisert, Gabi Gervasi, Ana Warner, Sophia Torres, Summer Meyers and Marina Nelson made up half of the winning 16U Girls team. Their team ranked the highest out of all teams from North Texas, placing 18th out of 96 in the Platinum division.

The six girls competed as part of Thunder Water Polo, a private North Texas club with one of its three locations in Southlake. Including boys and girls teams, seven teams from Thunder competed at the tournament, and all teams contained members of the Southlake Carroll water polo teams.

This news comes shortly after another big win for the Lady Dragon Water Polo Team. Earlier this year, they took home the State Championship title, beating Austin McNeil, The Woodlands, Denton Guyer and Clear Springs. It was the first ever Texas Interscholastic Swimming Coaches Association (TISCA) State Water Polo Championship in Carroll High School history.
