Fayetteville, AR and Keller,brTX (Oct. 3, 2015) – The varsity Dragons traveled to the 27th Annual ChilebrPepper Cross Country Festival in Fayetteville, AR where 120 high school teamsbrcompeted in one of the country’s premier running events. The JV Dragonsbrcompeted at the Falcon Fast Invitational in Keller, TX. All 4 Dragon teams finished in the top 2 places.
Chile Pepper Cross Country Festival - Varsity
Thebrvarsity girl’s team placed 1st at the Chile Pepper Festival,broutscoring the 2nd place team by 150 points. Alison Esparza led the Lady Dragons coming inbr4th place with a time of 18:13, followed by Gillian Mortimer in 6thbrplace at 18:23, next was Tig Archer in 9th place with a 18:38,brcoming in 12th was Ari Lopez at 18:38 and Sarah Odneal completingbrthe top 5 with a 15th place finish and time of 18:47.
Thebrvarsity boys team came away with a 2nd place win and a score of 78brpoints. They fought hard in this extremely competitive race. They were led bybrReed Brown who took 1st place with an impressive 15:06, followed bybrCharlie Gardner in 12th place at 15:32, next was Michael Simcho inbr19th place with a 15:47, coming in 29th was Shea Whatleybrat 15:58.55 and rounding out the top was Nic Fernandes in 30th placebrwith a 15:58.72.
HeadbrCross Country Coach Justin Leonard commented, “We are very proud of how ourbrrunners have progressed from top to bottom this season. Our varsity teams had a great performance atbrthe Chile Pepper Festival against some national caliber teams. The girlsbrdominated the field and the boys came in second. Reed Brown won the race with the 10thbrfastest time in Chile Pepper history. Webrare so proud of the JV teams for perfect scoring the girls race and coming inbrsecond for the boys. They are the futurebrof our program and I’m so excited for them.”
Falcon Fast Invitational – JV
The JV girls took 1stbrplace perfect scored their race. SophiabrSantamaria led the lady dragons taking 1st with a time of 19:45,brfollowed by Isabelle Dominquez taking 2nd place at 19:53, next wasbrRegan Reilley coming in 3rd with a 20:17, followed by LaurenbrThompson in 4th place at 20:31 and Cristina Canal completing the topbr5 in 5th place with a time of 20:33.
The JV boys came in 2ndbrplace with a low score of 48. EverettbrKolto led the boys with a 4th place finish and a time of 17:25,brfollowed by Blake Hosler in 8th place at 17:37, next was ChristopherbrDuffy in 9th
place with a 17:41, RyanbrSanders took 11th at 17:53 and Wyatt Packard took 16thbrwith a time of 18:07.
