With six games in the books, the Dragons have improved to a 5-1 record after defeating Richland on Friday night, 52-21. It was a game in which both units had top performances. Mason Holmes shined at quarterback, completing 16 of his 21 passes for 235 yards and 4 touchdowns. On defense, junior Luke Jeter made 10 tackles, two for a loss, and two sacks.

The Rebels scored first, a little over 7 minutes into the game, but they missed the extra point. Shemar Coleman put up his longest kick return of the season on the ensuing play, starting the first Dragon drive at the 40 yardline, and a few plays later scored a touchdown, hurdling a defender on a fly sweep. The 18-yard touchdown and PAT put Carroll ahead just a minute after the first score.

After a defensive stand, the Dragons got the ball back, but not for long, as Holmes threw his first and only pick on the night. Carroll took over on offense shortly after the beginning of the second quarter, but couldn't hang on. The Rebels followed up with their second score, carried in by Rylee Johnson.

Lil'Jordan Humphrey put the Dragons back ahead with just over 6 minutes to go in the half. It was the fourth and final lead change of the game. Receiver Zach Farrar and Holmes connected for a touchdown. The Dragons took a 21-13 lead with 21 seconds to go in the half and never looked back.

Humphrey finished the game with 18 carries for 121 yards and a touchdown on the ground, and three catches for 31 yards and a touchdown in the air. Jack Johansson had four receptions for 67 yards, and Farrar had three for 52 and a touchdown. Shemar Coleman scored a touchdown on the ground and in the air, going for 102 total yards on offense and a kick return average of 41.5 yards.

On defense, Matt Warner had 10 tackles. Grant McFarlin followed with 9 tackles.

The Dragons face off against Trinity on the road on Friday night at 7:30 p.m.
