If you’ve been wondering what will become of the old
Steak 'n Shake building, allow us to fill you in: The spot will soon be home
to Pollo Tropical, a restaurant specializing in Caribbean cuisine. The
fast-casual chain, a favorite in Florida, is bringing its citrus-marinated,
flame-grilled chicken, and array of authentic sauces and sides to Southlake.
Pollo Tropical entered the Texas market in March 2014 with the opening of its Addison store. It has since added a handful of additional North Texas locations, with Southlake next on the map.
“Texans have really embraced the taste of the island flavors that Pollo Tropical offers, with our uniquely tropical twist on fresh, healthy, hand-prepared foods,” said Pollo Tropical Chief Operating Officer Danny Meisenheimer, in a press release. “Our guests can visit every day to explore new items on the menu, and families can enjoy the convenience and variety of meal choices they feel better about eating.”
The restaurant’s menu features all the distinctive, bold flavors of the Caribbean, with savory island spices, mixed herbs and citrus blended into rubs and marinades to enhance the flavors of fresh vegetables, pork, beef and chicken dishes.
Guests can select from a number of options including platters, sandwiches, salads, wraps, kids meals and family meals. Pollo Tropical has built a loyal fan base for its fresh, never frozen, bone-in chicken that is marinated in tropical fruit juices and spices and then flame-grilled to perfection and served quartered or halved.
The restaurant’s famous Saucing Island brings the flavor (and the heat) with 10 signature sauces including Guava BBQ, Pineapple Rum, Cilantro Garlic and Spicy Poyo-Poyo. The sauces allow diners to further customize their meals and tempt their taste buds with craveable, zesty, tropical flavors.
Don’t overlook Pollo Tropical’s creative array of island-inspired beverages – guests can sip on anything from a cold Caribbean beer to popular Refrescas in a variety of flavors.
