Mark Your Calendar for “High Tea and Conversation”

Oct 19, 2015 08:24AM ● By Audrey Sellers

How does an afternoon of tea, finger sandwiches, scones, and clotted cream and pastries sound? Get out your finest hats – the American Cancer Society is hosting its second annual “High Tea and Conversation” charity event. It will be held at 12:30 p.m., Sunday, November 15 at Piazza in the Village in Colleyville. And you're invited.

Featured speaker will be Royal Chef Darren McGrady, the former chef at both Buckingham Palace and Kensington Palace for Queen Elizabeth II, the late Princess Diana, Prince William and Prince Harry. McGrady is an expert on the royal way of life, and he knows a little bit about American royalty, too, having cooked for Presidents Ford, Bush, Reagan and Clinton. McGrady’s cookbook, Eating Royally; Recipes and Remembrances from a Palace Kitchen, is now in its sixth printing.

Serving as chairwoman is Zoe Kirby of Colleyville. Assisting her are committee members Valerie Skinner, Susan Dunkel, Mary Morton, Adelaide Griffin, Stephanie House, Tanya Morris and D’Lissa Cunningham.

The fundraiser will also include a silent auction with items ranging from a wooden rocking horse similar to one Prince William owned to fine English china tea cups commemorating the recent christening of Princess Charlotte.

Tickets, priced at $150 per person, are available online. Or, contact Meredith Millard, American Cancer Society staff partner, at 817-570-0618. Morrison Supply Company is the presenting sponsor, and other sponsorships are available in amounts ranging from $1,000 to $5,000.
