Texas has, and always will be, the place that I call home. What I love about Texas are the friendly people, the deep rooted traditions and most of all, the food. There is nothing better than true authentic Texas BBQ.  My grandfather, Edgar “Papa” Schmidt is a BBQ legend. He ran Kreuz Market from the time he purchased it in 1948 until he sold it to his sons in the 1980s. I tried to learn everything and anything about BBQ from him. When my husband and I moved back to Texas from New York, we fulfilled one of our dreams and opened Lockhart Smokehouse to bring true Central Texas BBQ to the heart of Dallas, Texas. With the help of the extremely talented Chef Tim McLaughlin, Pitmaster extraordinaire, we’ve grown Lockhart Smokehouse into an institution here in Dallas.

Speaking of institutions, anyone native to Texas knows that high school football is a staple of our community. And what better way to celebrate this time honored tradition than an awesome tailgate? This coming Friday, November 6th, Lockhart Smokehouse will be partnering with OZARKA® Brand 100% Natural Spring Water to host an unforgettable tailgate at the Southlake Carroll Dragon’s home game against LD Bell.  For the second consecutive year, OZARKA® brand is showing its support of our Texas traditions as the official spring water of Dragon Stadium. Partnering with a brand that is as steeped in Texan heritage as I am has truly been an honor, and we are excited to bring our food to hungry Southlake fans. We will be serving tailgating staples such as the famous Kreuz Market Sausage, brisket sliders, mac ‘n cheese and potato salad. Stop by and try some of our delicious treats. Go Dragons!
