You're Invited to the Christmas Cottage Open House

Nov 20, 2015 08:38AM ● By Audrey Sellers

Providing warmth, comfort and a little bit of Christmas magic to those in need is what Christmas Cottage is all about. This GRACE program provides new, unwrapped gifts to families facing financial hardship due to limited income or recent emergency.

You can help spread Christmas cheer by attending the Christmas Cottage Open House on Wednesday, December 2. Held at 815 S. Main Street in Grapevine, the free holiday event is open to any family, church, civic group or business that would like to attend.

Holiday treats will be served for children at 4 p.m., with wine and hors d’oeuvres served at 5:30 p.m. Guests are encouraged to bring new, unwrapped gifts for children and families.

Each qualified family is given a hypothetical “budget” that allows the parents to “purchase” donated toys, home goods and appliances in a private, store-like setting. This unique approach allows families to budget their resources and select unique presents while preserving the family’s dignity. More than 2,700 individuals and families are served each holiday season.

Christmas Cottage is designed to continue a legacy of giving and instill new traditions for your family, community group or business. This noble endeavor of giving a meaningful Christmas to children relies heavily on those traditions, many of which were forged through the community’s desire to extend their blessings with those who are struggling this season.

The volunteers, donors and corporate partners that make Christmas Cottage special for so many each year is a testimony to the wonderful GRACE family. The hundreds of service hours, thousands of unwrapped gifts and countless batches of cookies make a profound impact on families in need of hope.

Gifts can be dropped off at Donation Station or GRACE Main, 610 Shady Brook Drive in Grapevine. The Christmas Cottage Program will be open from December 8-22. Click here to see some FAQs about the program.
