In case you haven’t heard, Drybar is officially open in Grapevine. Situated right next to Grimaldi’s, the place is vibrant and fun with a super-friendly (and talented) staff. Ladies: If you want to freshen up your look with a blowout, definitely make your way to Drybar. Several of us on the Southlake Style team stopped in for the grand opening and enjoyed blowouts. Our Editor had the opportunity to visit with Alli Webb, Drybar founder. See the Q&A below and go to TheDrybar.com to book your appointment or shop for products (Detox is our favorite).
Southlake Style: Tell us about the inspiration behind Drybar.
Webb: First and foremost, it was my own hair. I have naturally curly hair that I’ve fought with my whole life. I always wished there was a place like Drybar that existed because I used to beg my mom, who’s not a stylist, to blow out my hair. As a kid, I felt better when my hair was blown out. Fast forward all these years later and I felt like there were enough women out there like me who love getting their hair done. That’s one of our biggest reasons for success … it’s more about the feeling we’re selling. We’re not just selling blowouts; we’re selling happiness and confidence.
Southlake Style: What’s the secret to making a blowout last?
Webb: Dry shampoo should be your best friend. It’s a nice way to extend your blowout. Also try sleeping on a satin or silk pillowcase. We’re actually in the process of launching one next year. It doesn’t rough up your hair the way that cotton does. Sleeping on silk is actually really good for your skin, too. Or just change it up by adding a braid.
Southlake Style: What’s the most-requested style?
Webb: That’s tough. The Mai Tai is among the most requested because it’s a harder look to achieve on your own. But I can make the same argument for the Straight Up, especially if you have naturally curly hair.
Southlake Style: Anything else you’d like to add?
Webb: We love Dallas. We have such a warm welcome here. It’s such a great city with so many amazing, vibrant women. Dallas was actually our second city to open in. We knew the concept would work here. Grapevine is our fourth location in the area and 49th location overall.
