Carrol Senior High School football was in the news today as senior cornerback Obi Eboh announced he no longer planned to attend the University of Texas.
Originally committing in September, the 6-foot-2, 190-pound Dragon had offers from more than 25 schools.
"Thank you to the University of Texas and the UT fans for this unbelievable opportunity..." he said on Saturday evening on Twitter.
He continued, "First, I'd like to thank the entire Texas coaching staff for giving me the opportunity to attend and play for such a prestigious and historic program. Secondly, I would like to thank all the Texas fans for being so supportive of me, and even now, I ask for their continued support with this extremely tough decision.
"Ultimately, I have to do what's best for me and my family and that is picking the school that is the right fit for me both academically and athletically. I have prayed many nights about this and it has been anything but easy. With that being said, I am announcing my decommitment from the University of Texas."
According to the Dallas News, "Stanford is now considered the heavy favorite" for Eboh. "He made an official visit to Palo Alto earlier this month and cancelled his official visit to Texas, which was scheduled for this weekend."
Eboh made First Team All-District in a 2015 campaign that saw the Dragons fall short in the postseason. This year, he registered 37 tackles (one for a loss), deflected 17 passes, and recovered a team-high 2 fumbles.
