More than 1.5 million students took the PSAT/NMSQT qualifying test, and only 15,000 students emerged as Finalists. Two of those students happen to reside locally: Caleb Allison and Kenneth Wong are Liberty Christian National Merit Semifinalists who advanced as Finalists in the National Merit Scholarship Program, an academic competition for recognition and scholarships that began in 1955.

The selection of some 7,400 Merit Scholarship winners from the group of Finalists is now in progress. In March, the National Merit Scholarship Corporation (NMSC) will begin mailing scholarship offers to winners and their school principals. Four major news announcements of Merit Scholar designees will be made by NMSC in April, May, June and July.
