Malai Kitchen Hires Brewmaster to Oversee House Beer Program

It’s not just the food getting the buzz at Malai Kitchen; the Vietnamese/Thai-inspired restaurant has a new brewmaster at the helm: Matt Reynolds. Braden and Yasmin Wages, owners of Malai Kitchen, hired the 2011 University of North Texas graduate to oversee the restaurant’s house beer program.
Reynolds previously worked as a mechanical and design engineer. In his free time, he immersed himself in Dallas’ burgeoning craft-beer scene and began honing the craft of home brewing. When presented with the opportunity to oversee Malai’s program, he took the leap, turning his passion into a full-time job.
Utilizing his engineering background and vast knowledge of craft beer, its ingredients and nuances, Reynolds will oversee the creation and production of Malai’s portfolio of Southeast Asian-inspired brews, including recipe testing and development, and researching current beer trends to ensure Malai stays on the forefront.
