Don’t Miss Inaugural “Films at The Marq”

Calling all movie buffs: Apex Arts League is hosting its first-ever “Films at The Marq” event on May 7. The all-day event is designed to bring the community together to celebrate the art of films. All are invited to The Marq, Southlake’s community center, from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. for some free fun and great flicks.

Here’s what’s playing and when:

11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Taste of Film – Lunch and “Ratatouille” (sponsored by Celebrity Cruises)

A complimentary luncheon (open to the first 150 guests) is just the way to kick off the first film, a 2007 computer-animated comedy about a gourmet rodent chasing his culinary dreams.

1 to 3 p.m.

Short film exhibition (the 48-Hour Film Project) and film symposium

3 to 5 p.m.

Family feature – “The Iron Giant”

Relive all the adventure from the 1999 comedy/drama film in which a giant alien robot crash-lands in Maine.

5:30 to 7 p.m.

Zodiac Vodka tasting (sponsored by Zodiac Vodka)

Take a break, sample some vodka and peruse the onsite food trucks. They’ll have various meals and snacks for purchase from 5:30 to 9 p.m. 

7 to 9 p.m.

Main Feature – “Tai Chi Zero”

In this 2012 fantasy/drama film, a martial artist protects his community from a villain who wants to construct a railroad through the center of his village.
