The closure is a part of a decision to pull out of four states nationwide, including Iowa, Missouri and Kansas, totaling 13 stores. The closures will occur on May 18. The chain pulled out of California earlier in the year.
CEO Rick Anicetti released a statement, saying it was “a difficult but necessary step with the end goal of producing a strong, more agile company.” The decision came just days after Apollo Management Group acquired the company.
Employees will be offered separation packages or the chance to work at other stores, The Fresh Market said.
