Plano West Ends Carroll Softball's Season in Playoffs

May 07, 2016 06:58AM ● By Kevin
Carroll softball's season came to an abrupt end Friday night in Flower Mound in a shutout at the hands of Texas' third-ranked Plano West. The Lady Dragons registered just two hits against Sierra Lange in the 5-0, one-game0pla loss.

The Carroll softball team fought hard early on, holding the Lady Wolves scoreless through three innings. In the bottom of the fourth, Plano West put three runs on the board and didn't look back.

The Lady Dragons finish the season 22-10 (9-3 in the district). They will say goodbye to eight seniors here in 2016.

The Scoop From Spring 2016 Dragon Pride

Lady Dragon Softball Head Coach Tim Stuewe always seems to have a team full of players ready to step up. From underclassmen to veteran leaders, the Dragons’ roster boasts versatile, mature athletes who make an impact when the lights shine brightest. With key contributions coming from all over, the Lady Dragons are getting production from each position. The big difference between this year’s team is Southlake Carroll’s experience. Growing up from a team that only featured two upperclassmen, cohesiveness and familiarity have played big roles in Carroll’s continued success. Sophomore slugger Abigail Stewart leads the green and white with seven homeruns. Her 34 RBIs rank first on the team. Playing a huge part in the Dragon batting order is Gabby Garcia, whose .494 batting average and 19 extra base hits pace the Dragons. With the offense doing its part, the Dragons’ pitching staff has also had a successful season. Senior Cami Green has been almost unbeatable on the mound, owning a 9-2 record so far in 2016, while freshman Lauren Long’s 10-7 record is good for second on the team...
