The Dragons entered the 2015-16 season with plenty of
experience. Returning some of the team’s top talent from a year ago, the
Dragons have enjoyed the luxury of veteran leadership. With five seniors on the
roster, the Dragons have a perfect balance of both experience and youth that
will keep the team competitive this season and for years to come. Mason
Greenberg has done a remarkable job in his senior campaign, placing in the top
three in two tournaments this season. He shot +3 in the regional tournament to
earn a 17th place finish. After playing at an extremely high level
during his junior campaign, Colin Kober has been on a mission during his final
season with the Dragons. The Baylor commit has been outstanding winning the
Class 6A Region 1 championship, shooting a score of 137 (-3). He also has
finished first in the Jim McLean Invitational, The Aggie Cup and the Boys Fall
Preview Championship. Junior Matt Kettler also produced in the region 1
championship, tying for seventh in the tournament.
District Champions, State Qualifiers
It’s state championship time in Dragon Country! With both the boys and girls golf teams qualifying for the state tournament, Southlake Carroll is looking to create a little magic to end the 2015-16 season. Looking to repeat as state champions, the boys team won the Class 6A Region 1 championship with a score of 568 (-8), topping both Plano West and Mansfield, who were at one point ranked higher in the state rankings. Having played in seven tournaments during the season, Matt Glenn’s team placed in the top three in the majority of the tournaments they played in this season. Before winning another district championship this season, they won the Jim McLean invitational, as three members of the team finished in the top 10 of the tournament. In the Byron Nelson Spring Kickoff Classic Team C placed second, with one player placing in the top 10. As the Dragons continue to play great golf at a crucial point in the season, a state championship could be on the horizon.
