If you’re looking for home furnishings or design inspiration, The Interior Collection located on Southlake Boulevard is a good place to start. The company was named one of Home Accents Today’s 50 Retail Stars for 2016 by editors of the premier trade magazine for the home accents industry.
The Retail Stars list, now in its 12th year, recognizes independent brick-and-mortar retailers of home accents – including furniture stores and interior design boutiques – that are creative in their merchandising, have a positive presence in their local communities and are distinguishing themselves from the competition.
“We are honored to be selected by Home Accents Today magazine for their Top 50 retail Stars list,” said Owner Whitnie Cypert in a press release. “We look to Home Accents Today for the latest in market trends and updates. We value the partnerships and backing by such industry leaders.”
“Every year, this magazine has the privilege of identifying some of the best independent home décor and furnishings stores in the country,” said Jenny Heinzen York, editor in chief of Home Accents Today. The 2016 Retail Stars are stores that are taking on the changing world of retail with marketing, merchandising, customer service and innovation that keeps them relevant and growing.
“Independent retail in the age of e-commerce and chain stores is nothing short of a labor of love – and these stores represent the best there is in their field. We congratulate each one, and encourage everyone to support their own local businesses,” Heinzen added.
Eighteen of the stores on this year’s list have been operating successfully for more than 20 years, and six are at least 70 years old. Sixteen stores are ringing up annual sales in excess of $3 million and six of those are at $10 million plus. Forty-six of the 50 stores on this year’s list offer design services, and 43 say they offer a to-the-trade program for interior designers.
Twenty-five U.S. states are represented on this year’s list, with New York contributing seven stores, and California, Florida and South Carolina each contributing four. A third of this year’s businesses operate in multiple locations.
Members of the home furnishings industry were invited to suggest stores, and retailers were encouraged to submit information describing their businesses. The list was compiled and narrowed down by research analysts and Susan Dickenson, Home Accents Today’s retail editor.
The 50 Retail Stars list, sponsored by AmericasMart Atlanta, publishes each year in Home Accents Today’s May issue. The 30-year-old publication, based in Greensboro, North Carolina, is owned by Progressive Business Media.
