This year’s Relay For Life, a signature event of the American Cancer Society, should be bigger than ever. The 2016 Relay For Life of Northern Tarrant County combines Relays formerly held in Southlake, Keller and Grapevine and includes areas such as Colleyville, Roanoke and Westlake for a completely new event. The action will unfold on Saturday, July 23 from 6 p.m. to midnight at Texas Motor Speedway.
“We are so excited about this Relay For Life including all the communities of northern Tarrant County,” said Event Manager Sonia Leal. “With it being in the summer, we’re hoping families will come out to enjoy the entertainment and to support a worthy cause.”
Relay For Life celebrates cancer survivors and continues the fight against cancer that was started 103 years ago when the American Cancer Society was created. Relay For Life events, now numbering more than 6,000 worldwide, are free, family events open to the public. All cancer survivors are invited to launch the Relay by taking the first lap together.
The planning committee currently is recruiting interested volunteers for the fundraiser. For information on how to form a team, email Sonia.Leal@cancer.org.
