The Land of Oz Awaits

Jun 08, 2016 04:29PM ● By Dia

Bass Performance Hall. This timeless tale isn’t in Kansas anymore. Break out your best ruby slippers; the Wizard of Oz is coming to DFW, presented by the Performing Arts Fort Worth. This new production of the 1939 classic film has all the iconic moments you’ve grown to love over the years, including Toto, Dorothy, the Cowardly Lion, the Tin Man, the Scarecrow, the famous Yellow Brick Road, the munchkins, the Wizard, and of course, that awful Wicked Witch of the West. And the songs, oh yes, the songs like “Over the Rainbow,” “We’re Off to See the Wizard” and “If I Only Had a Brain.” Feel free to sing along! Fans of the timeless tale will certainly not be disappointed, but do expect a few surprises along the way that will delight all ages. New songs and choreography bring renewed energy to the story, as well as colorful costumes, breathtaking special effects and an all-star cast that will leave you remembering why there truly is no place like home.

After a spring filled with our own rain, hail and dangerous storms, Dorothy’s journey certainly won’t feel too unfamiliar. Watch in awe (and breathe a sigh of relief that it’s just an illusion) as the Bass Performance Hall stage twists to life in a tornado-scene showstopper. We bet once the last curtain draws, you’ll wish you could click your heels and enjoy it all over again.

Date: June 7-12

Location: Bass Performance Hall
