Shelter Pets Await Your Kindness

Jul 14, 2016 01:13PM ● Published by Pamela Hammonds

Nearly 3,000 pets found homes last year during the annual Clear the Shelters event in North Texas. Nationally close to 20,000 animals were adopted.

Known as the largest adoption event in our area, Clear the Shelters returns on Saturday, July 23, with more than 60 area shelters participating.

For the third year, shelters across DFW are waiving adoption fees to help make shelter pets’ dreams come true. Although the Flower Mound Animal Adoption Center, located at 3950 Justin Road, never charges an adoption fee, the adopter must agree to have the pet vaccinated for rabies and spayed/neutered within 15 days of adoption. Grapevine Animal Services, Humane Society North Texas - Keller, Lewisville Animal Shelter and Coppell Animal Services are also participating.

Adoptions will take place from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.; visit ClearTheShelters.org for a complete list of participating shelters across DFW.
