All-district honors were awarded last month, and quite a few Dragon baseball players made the list. Topping the group was senior pitcher Matthew Canterino, who was named co-pitcher of the year for District 7-6A, alongside Coppell's John Kodros.
Canterino, who will continue his career at Rice next year, went 7-1 with a 0.64 ERA, according to MySouthlakeNews.
Additional first-team Carroll selections included junior pitcher Kole Ramage, senior shortstop Hudson Sanchez and senior left fielder Zach Farrar. Catcher Ross Cadena and junior right fielder Jake Murphy made the second team.
"Ramage went 8-2 and led the Dragons in victories. Sanchez hit .374 with six home runs and 29 RBI (all team highs). Farrar hit .298, while Cadena hit .299 with a team-high eight doubles and Murphy hit .295 and 13 RBI," MySouthlakeNews reported.
The Dragons went 24-9-1 (11-2 in the district) in 2016 and were ranked 25th in the state by MaxPreps.
