Meet Dave Bliss at White’s Chapel

Dave Bliss, a former NCAA Division I college basketball coach who earned more than 500 victories over 28 years of coaching, will be the featured speaker at White’s Chapel on August 31 at 6 p.m. The event is free, with a dinner at a cost of $5 for adults and $3 for children, open to the community. No registration is needed.
Making his way up the fame ladder as an assistant for Bob Knight at the United States Military at West Point and Indiana University, Dave then worked to become the head coach at many top tier universities such as the University of Oklahoma, Southern Methodist University, the University of New Mexico, and Baylor University. At Baylor, Bliss stumbled and admitted to several NCAA violations, leading to his resignation in 2003.
His rise, fall and ultimate comeback is a story of redemption that we can all learn from. As he mentions in his book, Fall to Grace, “I don’t think for a minute any of you would do something as foolish as what I did, but you need to understand something: I didn’t think I would, either.”
His experience with personal guilt, shame from every direction, and slipping down the slope away from his morals so effortlessly, pushed him right into God’s arms. Bliss now experiences God’s unfathomable grace and love throughout his life and through the second chance he was blessed with.
Bliss is passionate about helping others discover true hope, joy and purpose, as well as experiencing the same opportunity for redemption in this life on earth. Join the entire community at White’s Chapel UMC on August 31 at 6 p.m. to hear a touching, empowering and glorious story of how God can redeem any situation. Up to 250 copies of Bliss’ book, Fall to Grace, will be available for purchase and autographs.
