Two Sports Collide to Raise Funds for Team

Sep 16, 2016 08:51AM ● Published by Kevin

The Dragon wrestling team will hold its annual "Takedown Classic" golf tournament on Oct. 25, with a 1 p.m. shotgun start, at Sky Ranch Creek Golf Course, 600 Promontory Drive, in Keller. The proceeds raised from the tournament go right back into the wrestling program.

The event will have prizes, a silent auction, hole in one, closest to the pin, longest drive, grand shootout, and many other contests, in addition to the golf outing. Funding needs for the Dragon wrestling team this year include:
  • Team travel expenses
  • Middle school program
  • Entry fees for all teams
  • Uniforms (singlets, warmups, tournament shorts and shirts)
  • Trophy cases
  • Recognition boards
  • Updates to the team room
  • Mat Boss Video programming
  • Stats program
Sponsors are welcome and encouraged. The title sponsor goes for $5,000; hole-in-one for $1,200; individual holes for $600 each (team) or $400 each (no team). You can also have a wrestling coach play with your group for $150.

Registration is $85 per person, or $300 per four-person team. Non-golfers can be admitted for $30, and that includes dinner. Each player receives a round of golf, range balls, a cart for two with a GPS, and the after-party dinner event.

Event sign in begins at 11 a.m. on the day of the tournament. For the registration form, payment and sponsorship information, and contact information, click here.
