One in three women have been victims of some form of physical violence by an intimate partner within their lifetime, according to the National Coalition Against Domestic Violence. And on average, nearly 20 people per minute are physically abused by an intimate partner in the United States.
S.P.A.R.K. wants to show women how to defend themselves and avoid dangerous situations. On Saturday, October 15 from 1 to 4 p.m., the organization is hosting a free women’s defense and protection class at DPS North (100 E. Dove). It’s open to all girls in 7th grade or above. The session will offer practical advice on how to stay safe and give women and girls useful self-defense tips.
To sign up, contact Valerie Snyder at firstname.lastname@example.org or 817.748.8173. Can't attend this class? The Southlake DPS will host an additional class on October 22 from 1 to 4 p.m. Be sure to reserve a spot!
