Carroll Cross Country teams conquered Texas over the weekend, with a portion of runners traveling tobrCorpus Christi for the annual Texas A&M-Kingsville Javelina Invitationalbrand some competing locally at the Colleyville Heritage Invitational.
In Corpus, the girls tookbrfirst place and the boys came away with second place. Leading the Lady Dragons tobran impressive low score of 29 points was Lydia Lo (20:18), who came in thirdbrplace. Next to cross the line was Kelley Anne Richards (20:22) in fourth place,brDelaney Drefs (20:37) came in sixth, Callie Colvin (20:53) was next in seventhbrplace and Madalyn Wardin (21:02) finished out the scoring positions, coming inbr10th place.
The boys came away with abrsecond-place finish, missing first by only four points. The team was led bybrJackson Felkins (16:32) who came in fourth place. Next was Everett Koltobr(16:41) in sixth place, Hayden Coleman (16:47.37) eighth place, Brett Naughtonbr(16:47.99) ninth place and Matthew Sims (17:06) in 14th to round outbrthe top five.
Carroll Cross Country hadbrteams compete in both the Varsity and JV divisions of the small meet inbrColleyville on Saturday and came away with some great performances. Varsitybrcompetitors took second place and the JV teams took first.
“The trip to the JavelinabrInvitational was a fun experience for our kids,” said head coach JustinbrLeonard. “Our runners ran a great race and then enjoyed a little time on thebrbeach afterwards. So proud of the kids’ effort at both the Javelina andbrColleyville Heritage meets.”
Dragons are back on thebrcourse October 1 with the Varsity traveling to the highly competitive ChilebrPepper Festival in Fayetteville, Arkansas, and the JV Dragon runners in Kellerbrat the Timbercreek Invitational.
