There was no shortage of big defensive plays in Friday night's football game, as the Dragons picked up their seventh straight win. Carroll defeated Byron Nelson, 44-13.

Six different dragons registered sacks in the game, including John Miscoll, Jacob Copeland, Zachery Semrak, Jackson Canter, Jacob Doddridge and Luke Jeter. Miscoll added 10 tackles and three for a loss. Jeter made four tackles and two for a loss. He also recovered a fumble forced by Copeland, who also had eight tackles and two pass deflections.

Senior defensive back Jake Murphy made his third interception of the season while also putting up five tackles and a pass deflection.

The ground game dominated on offense, accounting for 301 of the Dragon's 495 total yards. First Financial Bank Player of the Week Audricke Gaines led that effort with 139 yards on 13 carries and two touchdowns. Jack Johansson and Tre Sledge added the other two rushing touchdowns.

Mason Holmes completed 12 of 16 passes for 166 yards and a score. That 23-yard touchdown was caught by Reed Thompson. Will Bowers tossed Carroll's other touchdown pass on a 28 yarder to Royce Weigel.

The Dragons will hit the road for the team's final away game of the regular season Friday night at 7:30 p.m. against L.D. Bell. The Raiders are 3-5 this year and 1-4 in the district. Carroll is 7-1 and have not lost since Week 1.
