Curb appeal: You can bet members of the Southlake Garden Club know how to create it. At the club’s October general meeting hosted by Mariann Nichols, guest speaker Brad Sandy from the Dallas County Master Gardener Organization gave a presentation on curb appeal.
Sandy discussed the importance of aesthetically pleasing curb appeal and its impact on property values and a house’s general appearance. His presentation included before-and-after pictures of landscaping to show how planting the right flowers and shrubs, and strategically using natural elements such as rocks and boulders can change a home’s entire appearance.
“Don’t wait to start working on your curb appeal a week before you put your house up for sale,” said Sandy, in reference to trimming bushy, low-growing limbs that block the view. “The higher the skirt, the prettier the leg.”
