Apex Arts League has some seasonal delights in store for the community: For the third year, it’s bringing Avant Chamber Ballet to White’s Chapel UMC on November 17 at 7:30 p.m. The Dallas-based nonprofit ballet will perform an expanded one-act Nutcracker with live music and everyone’s favorite characters. The production will build on the success last season, including new and expanded sections from the Christmas classic and new costumes in a family-friendly, one-hour performance.
This year, in addition to the 15 professional dancers, a cast of 38 students from schools all over DFW, were selected from two days of auditions.
“We look forward to coming to Southlake each year,” said artistic director Katie Cooper, in a press release. “It doesn’t seem like the season without Nutcracker but as a dancer who grew up performing it many times, it’s great to be able to something a little bit different. We skip some of the storytelling sections and focus on everyone’s favorite dancing which makes it an easier and shorter production for kids in the audience, too.”
Tickets are available online at Apex-Arts.org or at the door. $20 for adults; $15 for seniors, students and Apex members.SaveSave
