Southlake Carroll's football season  may be over after a season-ending loss to DeSoto on Nov. 18; however, all-district honors were just announced, and many of Carroll's own led the way in the coaches' voting.

The Dragons, who won the district title and held a 10-2 overall record, saw senior quarterback Mason Holmes win the District 5-6A Most Valuable Player. Holmes finished the season with 2,371 passing yards, 16 touchdowns and 7 interceptions. He completed 59.1 percent of his passes. The dual-threat also rushed for 271 yards and two touchdowns.

In addition, kicker Kole Ramage, who is committed to play baseball at Arkansas next year, was named the district's Special Teams Player of the Year. He hit 10 field goals in 2016, with a 28.9-yard average. His longest was from 55 yards out in the Dragons' season opener against Tulsa Union. Ramage booted 56 extra points successfully this year. He also averaged 37.6 yards per punt, and stuck 26 of his 41 punts inside the 20 yard line.

The Dragon coaching staff shares the honor of Coaching Staff of the Year with Byron Nelson.
