Wine, craft beer, fine food and philanthropy come together at the 13th Annual WineDiscovery hosted by the Metroport, Southlake and Keller Rotary Clubs. Since its inception, the event has raised more than $300,000 for local youth scholarships and community service projects. This year’s event kicks off April 29 at 7 p.m. at The Marq.
Guests will enjoy unlimited samples of 24 Texas, domestic and international wines—including red, white, port and sparkling—from five local wineries and distributors: Bear Creek Spirits & Wine in Colleyville; El Wine Chateau in Keller; Three Vino in Roanoke; and Off the Vine and Wine Fusion in Grapevine. In addition, experts will be on hand to provide details of grapes, growers and vintages.
“Buying wine is a challenge, so WineDiscovery is all about tasting new wines and finding new favorites that are affordable,” said event chair Mary MoeGeorgia via press release. “Lesser-known Texas, domestic and international wineries are featured, selected by experts to be exceptional values. We bet favorite selections are not the most expensive!”
New this year, the event will also feature craft beer tastings from two breweries. Ballast Point Brewing Company will offer samples of its specialty ales in the beer cave, and Shannon Brewing Company will serve outdoors from the DeVivo Brothers Eatery fire engine food truck.
A wine and craft beer tasting is not complete without food, and this year’s culinary sponsors offer fare to complement all varietals. Be sure to get a taste from Bonefish Grill, Howard Wang's, il Calabrese, RA Sushi, F&G Eats, Texas Bleu Steakhouse and Hook & Ladder Pizza Company. Nothing Bundt Cakes and The Ice Cream Place will provide a sweet conclusion.
Prepare for an enchanting evening of live music and red carpet photos with beauty pageant winners Miss Southlake and Miss Fort Worth. Silent and live auctions showcase local goods and services, art, domestic and international travel packages. The raffles have the best odds in Texas and feature first choice of half of the pot or custom-designed jewelry by Diamonds & Designs.
The majority of proceeds from WineDiscovery are awarded as scholarships to graduating seniors in Carroll ISD, Keller ISD, Northwest ISD, Westlake, Christhaven and Tarrant County College. Remaining proceeds are used for local grants to nonprofits such as the Roanoke Food Pantry; Metroport Meals on Wheels; Victory Therapy Center to support equine assisted physical therapy; and Gallant Few to prevent veteran isolation, as well as humanitarian projects in Nicaragua, Mexico and Cuba.
