Last weekend, DragonbrWater Polo journeyed to The Woodlands to participate in the Allison Maloneybrtournament. The event was an opportunity for the Dragons to see the teams theybrwill face at state on May 5 and 6 at the Westside Aquatic Center in Lewisville.
The Lady Dragons won thebrtournament by defeating the current state champions, Cy-Creek, by a final scorebrof 5-2. These two teams have battled it out for three tough seasons. In 2015,brthe Lady Dragons defeated Cy-Creek to win the state championship. Cy-Creekbrdefeated the Dragons in 2016 to claim the championship with the Dragons placingbrsecond.
This year, the LadybrDragons hope to carry the momentum of the Allison Maloney tournament into thebrpost-season. Dragon Water Polo will host regionals the weekend of April 22 atbrthe Carroll Natatorium.
The Dragon men's team placedbrthird at the tournament. Zach Lowery was named a recipient of one of thebrAllison Maloney scholarships for Outstanding Water Polo Players.
