Four Fantastic Ways to Ring in Summer in Southlake

Apr 10, 2017 07:04AM ● By Audrey Sellers

The first day of summer isn’t officially until June 20, but don’t let that stop you from getting into a summer state of mind. The days are longer, the kids are almost out of school and the pool is calling your name. If you’re looking for a few of the best ways to celebrate the summer months in Southlake, here’s our short list. What’s your favorite summertime treat or activity? Leave a comment below!

1. Grab a frozen treat at Steel City Pops.

They’re not just cold, tasty and super-refreshing on a hot summer day—the craft popsicles at Steel City Pops are also all-natural. Fruity or creamy, each one is a sweet cool-down. Watch for our Local Flavor review in the May issue of Southlake Style

2. Spend a morning at Bob Jones Nature Center.

Whether you’re into bird-watching, trail-hiking or just exploring nature with your family, there’s nothing like enjoying the splendor of the great outdoors in Southlake—just well before the heat of the day. Visit BJNC.org to see what’s in store this summer.

3. Enjoy a mimosa al fresco at Brio.

How about starting off a summer day with a cold beverage and a bite to eat? Sounds good to us. We like to enjoy a pitcher of mimosas (or sangria) on the patio at Brio, but there are plenty of prime patio-sittin’ destinations in our area. Check them out.

4. Catch an outdoor flick.

We don’t know about you, but we think there’s something magical about enjoying a movie beneath the big Texas sky. Pack a blanket and head to The Marq for Movies at The Marq. The free movie series kicks off June 16 with a showing of “Secret Life of Pets.” Click here for the summer calendar.
