Jun 14, 2017 08:00AM ● By Audrey Sellers

Several senior Dragon lacrosse players ended their season on a high note. Two Dragons received All-American awards and all eight seniors earned All-Academic team recognition.

Michael Tsay, a senior defender for the Dragons, was recognized as one of just 16 Texas players to be named as a U.S. Lacrosse Academic All American. Tsay graduated summa cum laude and will attend Rice University next year.

Senior defender George Elmquist ended his Dragon career with several awards. Topping the list was joining Tsay as one of 16 Texas players to be named a U.S. Lacrosse All American. Elmquist, who also graduated summa cum laude, will attend and play for Fairfield University next year. Elmquist was also recognized by the North District as one of its 17 players to be named All-State.

Joining Elmquist on the All-State team is senior midfielder Casey Wasserman, a graduate from Grapevine Faith High School. Wasserman will attend and play for Towson University next year. Fellow Defender Nick Donfris nabbed North District Honorable Mention recognition and will attend the University of Arizona next year.

All of the Dragon seniors were honored at their year-end banquet for achieving All-Academic team recognition, which also went to 14 other players who maintained a 3.5 GPA or a 90 or better average.

Congratulations to these seniors:

Nick Donfris, University of Arizona

George Elmquist, Fairfield University

Jake Gillen, Oklahoma University

Carson Green, Alabama University

Eryk Ross, Catholic University

Michael Tsay, Rice

Adrian (AJ) Van den Dyssel, Denison University

Casey Wasserman, Towson University

In total, 26 players from the varsity, Division 2, and JV teams had the academic achievement to earn this distinction.
