Colleyville’s Next Bistro Debuts New Name, Menu for Sixth Anniversary

Jun 21, 2017 08:12AM ● By Audrey Sellers

When Chef Ying Aikens and her husband, Tom, opened the doors of Next Wood Fired Bistro and Wine Bar inside a renovated Taco Bell in 2008, a lot of eyebrows raised. But shortly after locals bit into her handmade lobster ravioli or caught the aroma of her legendary rum cake, reservations began to book out a few weeks at a time just to get a spot at the intimate Colleyville eatery.

Now as the restaurant approaches its sixth anniversary, Chef Ying has been working tirelessly in the kitchen on new menu items that can’t typically be found in suburbia. Already with an ever-changing menu, the dynamic duo is celebrating this special milestone with an update to its name, logo and planning for a renovation the week of July 2.

Simplifying the name by dropping “Wood Fired” and “Wine,” guests can easily call it Next Bistro. “If you’re always thinking of your ‘next’ meal,” said Tom Aikens, “why wouldn’t you think of ‘Next Bistro?’”

While plans for the renovation are still underway, guests can expect a fresh look to where they already enjoy the freshest ingredients and innovative dishes like Slow-braised Lamb Osso Bucco in red wine reduction to Sushi-grade Salmon and Crab Napoleon with Lobster Sauce (currently found on the menu.)
